HOW TO ORDER YOUR DATLEN LUTHIERY guitar
Each guitar I build is a unique project, and I work one-on-one with every player to determine the right sound and choose the correct materials for their playing style and aesthetic tastes. My current lead time is 6-8 months.
Whether you are consulting with me directly or ordering through an authorized shop, the steps for ordering and the level of craftsmanship are identical. Guitar building is a labour-intensive but highly enjoyable process to create the ideal instrument that will last a lifetime.
INITIAL DEPOSIT
I start all build orders with a $500 deposit*, which puts your guitar into my queue and opens up the door for a full discussion of your guitar design, ordering any special woods or materials, and drawing up final plans. Once these details are finalized, building can begin.
*the Initial Deposit is non-refundable once the design process has begun
BUILD DEPOSIT
At this point in the process, we’ve put the finishing touches on our design plans and the materials for your guitar are gathered. A 50% downpayment is collected at this time so that I can begin to build your instrument. Your Initial Deposit is applied to the balance of the Build Deposit.
FINAL PAYMENT
Near the end of building completion, I will send out a final invoice to collect the remaining balance on your guitar. Once I receive your final payment, your finished guitar will be sent out for delivery either directly to you or your local Datlen Luthiery dealer.
